5 Areas To Organize for Instant Peace

If you follow me on Instastories, you may have noticed me talking about getting organized lately. With the start of a new season, it just feels natural to declutter and reorganize our space. We were in full on declutter mode in January as well, and every time we do this, it amazes me at how much stuff accumulates. Basically, every corner of our apartment was filled up! The end result is beyond peaceful though.

Going through the entire home can be overwhelming, but I personally like to just get it done. Pick a weekend that you’re free, stay in your pajamas, blast the music, and get to work. Here are 5 areas to focus on:

1.) Closets – Obviously! Go through each item and decide if you want to keep it. If you haven’t fit into it (I’m totally guilty of this) or worn it in the last year, donate it. If it’s just a mess, toss it. Either way, pull out each item in your closet and reorganize it. Throw away broken hangers and make sure your shoes have a dedicated place to live.

2.) Dresser – Another obvious one, but totally necessary. Get rid of old or mismatched socks, underwear, and even bras that are worn out. I like to make note of what I need (so if I’m getting rid of my black bra, I know I need to order a new one). This is when I’ll donate old pajamas or workout gear and keep my list of what to buy as I can afford things.

3.) Pantry – This is always a bit depressing because you realize how much food has been wasted (hello old pasta!), but go through everything in your pantry and check dates. If something is expiring soon but you won’t use it, bring it to a food shelter and let them know the urgency. Don’t forget to check spices and replace what you’ve gotten rid of.

4.) Toy baskets – This is obviously only if you have little ones in your life, and if the kids are old enough, let them help you with this process. It might cause conflict and some tears, but teaching kids about donating and decluttering is important—at least I think so! I go through and clean up all the toys too; a little vinegar is a natural way to get rid of germs on legos, books, all the toys.

5.) Car – Oh my gosh, our cars get sooo messy, anyone else?! It’s such a forgotten space, but with 2 kids and 2 adults, our vehicles take a beating. Go through each corner and compartment and toss any trash, old napkins, etc. After doing this, I take the cars to get detailed, then I’ll add in a bag or bin to keep in the car for trash and random things we need to get rid of. I’ll usually keep a backpack full of emergency things: napkins, snacks, water, etc., too. There is just something magical about a totally clean, organized car—am I right?

Other areas you can organize: linen closets, bathroom + medicine cabinets (get rid of old meds), fridge (a good wipe down is usually needed), & under the bed. If dedicating a weekend is too much, commit to 30 minutes at the end of each day for a week, and you should make good progress.

I hope this helps your organization AND peace of mind 🙂

Wide Leg Pants

I’m completely in love with wide leg pants (or culottes) these days! I was a bit iffy on how they would look on me but the second I tried this pair on, I knew I was hooked. I picked this pair up from Nordstrom a few weeks back & I finally decided to break them out for a lunch in Manhattan Beach. While I can’t find this exact pair online (I got them in store), I found a similar style for you guys below.

Have you guys ever been to Manhattan Beach? It’s such a cute little beach town south of Los Angeles & I always forget how much I love it down there! I was down there for a lunch with Morning Lavender celebrating my friend Mara’s new curated collection (which is SO cute!) They have so many cute places to eat & I love taking a stroll down the pier & boardwalk. We don’t go down there very often but we definitely need to explore it more!

I have been obsessed with denim cut-offs for as long as I can remember. When I think of Summer, I instantly think of a cute pair of denim cut-offs paired with a cute top & sandals. If you’re as denim obsessed as I am, take a look below for some of my favorite denim cut-offs this year!

Until this outfit, I hadn’t worn overalls since the 3rd grade. I’ll be honest with you guys, I was completely against the overall trend until recently. It’s not that I didn’t like them on other people, I just never thought that I would feel comfortable enough to wear them myself. BUT since my goal for this year was to let go of my fears & do things that put me out of my comfort zone, I decided to be brave & just buy the dang overalls! I know, a very small feat for my goal but it was a small victory for me. Go big or go home, right?

Now that I own a pair & actually enjoy this little skirt overalls ensemble, I’ve been eyeing a few other pairs. I figured I would round up my favorites & get your opinion on them, so without further ado…

How do you guys feel about this trend? Is it something you would wear (or already wear) OR are you 100% against it & think that only children should wear them? Sound off in the comments below!

My New Website!

1024 683 Sheridan Gregory

Hi guys!

I’m beyond ecstatic to introduce you all to SheridanGregory.com! The idea of rebranding had been in my head for far too long & a few months ago, I finally decided to just go for it. When I originally started blogging, it was simply a way to show family & friends our life through photos & videos. Over the years, it slowly transitioned from a personal blog to a creative outlet & finally, into my career.

Around the time Hendrix was born, I felt this desperate need for a change (having a baby can do that to you :)). While I love sharing my outfits with you all, I had a strong desire to start sharing more. I wanted you all to get to know me as a person instead of just a face behind a fashion blog. I want to share all of the things I love with you guys.

Don’t worry though, I won’t ever stop posting my outfits. I love styling new looks & that’s such a massive part of my life & what got me to where I am today. I’m just saying that I want to share MORE with you all & not feel tied down to one thing. With blogging being such a new industry, it’s sometimes hard to get caught up in what everyone else is doing & trying to copy someone else because they’re “successful”. The honest truth is that we are all SO different & there is room for each & every person in this incredible online community.ASOS White Dress welcome sheridan gregory

I want to get to know all of you & have a creative space that we can all share & grow. I want us all to empower each other & feel comfortable & confident in our own bodies. We are all so wonderfully different & I just want all of us to embrace that! You all have been such a huge support system for me over the years & I really want to be that for you as well. I’ve made so many new friends through my blog & I would love nothing more than to get to know even more of you!

So with that said.. Welcome! I hope you enjoy the new site & explore a bit to see the new features 🙂

Target Date

Our Weekly Target Date

1024 683 Sheridan Gregory

I’m not even going to pretend that we don’t frequent Target at least once a week. With two kids, there is always something we need (or want) & to be honest, it’s always an adventure for us!

Even though we always leave with more than we planned on purchasing (anyone else!?), Target is our go-to for all of our everyday essentials. Baby formula & laundry detergent being our most frequent purchases because we go through these insanely quick. I think that anyone that has raised a baby or child, can testify to the glorious amounts of laundry that happen on the weekly (daily?) basis. With 4 of us now, the amount of laundry we go through is almost mind blowing. Which is why we did a happy dance when we found out that our favorite laundry detergent, Persil ProClean, is now sold in Target nationwide!!

Honestly, you can’t beat Persil. We were introduced to it a couple years ago & fell in love with how well it worked and the amazing scent. Since I’m surrounded by boys, it’s necessary to have a laundry detergent that smells lovely, gets stains out AND is gentle on our clothes. Persil ProClean does all of that & now that it’s at Target nationwide, we don’t have to worry about finding it, we can just add it to our list of Target must-haves & we’re good to go! If you couldn’t tell by now.. It’s the little things in life that make me happy!

I hope you enjoy the video! Leave a comment below if you are as addicted to Target as we are 🙂

*Thanks to Persil ProClean for sponsoring this post. Per usual, all opinions are my own 🙂

This is one of the looks I wore on our road trip up to Sequoia National Park & I love the simplicity of this outfit. Like I mentioned in this post, I’ve been trying to purchase pieces that I can mix & match to make multiple outfits. This sweater, these jeans & these boots are on constant repeat because I can wear them all so many different ways.

They’re not only great for days when you have “nothing to wear” but they’re perfect for day to day because they can be worn so many different ways.

One of my goals for this year is to utilize a lot of the pieces I have & show the many different ways that you can wear them. Because let’s be honest, most people aren’t going to be shopping every week & buying new clothes! That just isn’t realistic for most of us.

This turtleneck is by far one of the comfiest tops I own! Plus, I love the fact that when you buy a tee, they’ll plant a tree. I love brands that have a great purpose behind them!

Winter Date Night

Winter Date Night

Zara Trench Coat Burberry Trench Dupe Winter Date Night Outfit Black Turtleneck Zara Trench Black Midi BootsDate nights during this time of year are my absolute favorite! There are so many fun things to do that are festive & cozy. My friend Angela actually put together the ultimate list of winter date night ideas & if you’re needing some inspiration, definitely check her post out. Now onto this look, though!

I have always loved neutral pieces. I think they’re the perfect pieces to build your wardrobe & I love that you can mix & match these basics to create so many different looks. This trench coat is one of my favorites & I love that it so much more affordable than the Burberry version (although I wouldn’t mind the Burberry one ;))! Zara coats are definitely some of my favorites because they are great quality while still being more affordable. The two coats I own from Zara have stayed in great condition for 3 years now & I know I will get even more wear out of them!

I know that I’m way late to the game with this double buckle belt but while I was pregnant, I couldn’t wear belts & I since I still loved the look of this one, I decided to finally purchase it. Plus, this version is so much more affordable & you can’t beat that in my opinion!

I’m also loving that turtlenecks are back in. Such classics! & I love this classic black turtleneck. I know I’ll be wearing this all winter because I can wear it so many different ways. I’m thinking I’ll tuck it into a mini skirt with tights next! & these boots are my absolute favorite black boots this winter. I had my eye on them for a while & I finally pulled the trigger. So glad that I did because I know I’ll be wearing them constantly 🙂

4 Things to Add to Your Winter Routine

I always forget how cold weather comes with dry air and skin and a bunch of other factors.

I love that it’s finally winter-feeling (even in LA!), but I always forget how cold weather comes with dry air and skin and a bunch of other factors. I recently spent some time going through closets and my bathroom to swap out “summer” products items, and have replaced them will things that make more sense for winter. Here’s what I’ve been adding to my routine lately in case you’re interested:

winter essentialsConditioning treatment

I’m decent at taking care of my hair year-round, but with winter comes longer, hotter showers (can’t help it!) and super dry hair. Does this happen for anyone else? Using a deep conditioning treatment 1-2x a week helps a lot for me. Sometimes I’ll even leave one in after the shower (this is the one I’m currently using & it’s super affordable), tie my hair into a bun, then sleep with the treatment on. I definitely have to wash my pillowcase the next day and feel kinda gross, but my hair does SO much better after this trick.

Black furry hood coatHumidifier

Such a lifesaver for recycled air in our home during cold and flu season! Not only does this help us all breathe better, even through sniffles, but it’s great at adding moisture to the air. I notice a difference with my skin and feel better internally. I run the humidifier during the night and like to have a couple in the house. This one & this one are our favorites because they’re compact & can be used anywhere!

h&m black coat with furFace and body oil

I use face oil before bed all year (I’m currently obsessed with this one for morning & this one at night), but during the winter I apply it 24/7. My favorite winter trick is adding a little dab of oil under makeup if my skin is crazy dry. It adds a nice dewy finish and makeup seems to apply better vs. lotion if I’m at all flaky. I also put it all over my body—even on top of body lotion sometimes—after the shower. Ahhhh.

Sheridan GregoryOil diffuser

More oil! Since we’re not opening the windows and clearing out the air as often in the winter, I’m really into diffusing oil. It’s the perfect swap for candles and smoke, and it actually cleanses the air and makes it safer to breathe in. Plus, a little lavender oil before bed is heaven. Eucalyptus is my favorite for day time! This one is a great option if you’re in the market for an oil diffuser!
