Nordstrom Sale Must Haves

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

While a lot of us are being very conscious of our spending at the moment, I wanted to share this sale BUT only share the things that I use regularly. 25% off is a major deal for Nordstrom & I didn’t want any of you to miss out on anything that you’ve been wanting to order. For example, I desperately needed a new moisturizer & so I ordered one that I absolutely love & saved 25% off on it! If you’re not in the position to be shopping right now, please don’t. Like I said above, I only purchased a moisturizer because I was completely finished with my current one & genuinely needed one.

Sending love to all of you! I know this is a weird time in life & I hope you know that we’re all in this together. If you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here for you girls!

homeschool schedule

Homeschool Daily Routine

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

With all of the madness going on in the world right now, I think we’re all looking for a little bit of info to get us through this time at home. I am not a homeschool expert by any means but we have homeschooled for 3 years now (technically online school for 2 of those years) & I figured I would give you a glimpse into our daily routine for any of you struggling with having the kids home all day because guys.. It is a HARD adjustment (especially when it wasn’t a voluntary decision for so many of you). Good news is that with a bit of structure, you will get into a routine & make it work!

homeschool routine

7am – Wake up & Eat breakfast

7:45am – Get ready for the day

Getting dressed & ready for the day is key for productivity! I know it might sound a bit odd since you’re not leaving your home but trust me, sitting around in pjs all day every day isn’t great for your mental health & productivity.

8am – Get wiggles out

Basically free play before getting school started so that the kids feel like they have a bit of creative play before having to sit down & focus.

8:30am – Begin school

Kannon does his schooling online through an online school so all of his curriculum is online or in resources given to us through his school/teacher. Hendrix is currently doing homeschool preschool so we come up with different learning activities for him on our own & use a variety of different resources (similar to what we used for Kannons homeschool preschool). Let me know if you’re interested in the resources & books/activities we use & I can put together a blog post on that for you ladies!

9:30am – Take a break / Get our bodies moving

The key to doing homeschool or online school is to take breaks! Especially in the beginning & with younger children. When we first started homeschooling we took breaks every 15-20 minutes & we still take breaks between classes just to give their minds a minute to rest & reset. It might take longer to finish but I promise it will save you & them a lot of frustration 🙂

9:45am – School

11:45am – Eat Lunch

12:30pm – Finish school

Make sure to continue taking breaks whenever necessary. We don’t follow a hard & fast rule with these times because some days Kannon has live classes with his teacher or more of a work load but I wanted to give you a range of how long we do each thing for as an example.

2pm – Free play

The boys typically dive into their toys & run around like little maniacs haha but they play together really well (most of the time ;)) for an hour or so!

3pm – Arts & Crafts

3:30pm – Screen time

They typically sit down to watch tv or play on their tablets. These tablets are amazing & I don’t stress too much about the content on them. I was a bit iffy on if I would like them or not & I am beyond happy that we decided to purchase them over a year ago because the boys are obsessssed. I can’t recommend them enough!

4:30pm – Family Time

We play games together, watch a movie, run around, do puzzles, have nerf tournaments, etc.

5:30/6pm – Dinner prep / Dinner

7pm – Bedtime Routine

7:30pm – Bedtime

The boys are in bed & typically asleep by 7:30pm & then we get a few hours to hang out as just adults & regain our sanity from a busy day since we work from home most of the time & have kids at home all day 🙂

Let me know if you guys would like a post on our favorite resources for doing school at home with our 3 year old & 7 year old!

5 Christmas Traditions

819 1024 Sheridan Gregory

*Special thanks to Zappos for sponsoring this post!

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise that Christmas is my favorite holiday. If you’ve followed along for a little while now, you know that I love celebrating this time of year & I love the little traditions we have. These 5 Christmas traditions are my absolute favorite part of the holiday season & some of them might come across as very basic but I genuinely love celebrating in the most simple ways!

1. Christmas Pajamas & Slippers

This is a tradition that I’ve done my entire life thanks to my momma & I look forward to it every year. There is something so fun about getting new pajamas & it’s such a simple way to get into the holiday spirit! The past few years I’ve added to the pajama tradition & thrown in a new pair of slippers for all of us because I am obsessed with cozy slippers. I seem to have passed that obsession down to my boys as well because they love cozy slippers just as much as I do & get so excited to wear them! We were all so excited to partner with Zappos this holiday season to celebrate their 20th Anniversary & share this exclusive color of UGG that are only available on Zappos.com – They are beyond comfortable & I love this fun navy variation! These would make the perfect gift so head on over to check them out if you or anyone you know is interested in cozy slippers or shoes!

2. Christmas Movies

We watch as many holiday movies as we can throughout the month of December & I never get sick of them! We love all of the classics, as well as all of the cheesy Hallmark & Netflix movies that come out every year. You can find us curled up on the couch most evenings eating popcorn, drinking hot chocolate (white hot chocolate for me & Kannon) & watching a good holiday flick as a family. Those little moments are always my favorite/most memorable every year which goes to show that you don’t have to do extravagant activities to make the holidays special!

3. Holiday Baking

Growing up, baking with my mom & grandma was a yearly tradition. When I moved away, this became a little bit harder to accomplish since all of us live in separate states. I’m so excited that this year we will all be reunited to make my grandma’s caramels, caramel corn & my mom’s homemade hot chocolate! I’ll be sharing all of those recipes with you guys as well as some cute photos next week so stay tuned for that. I’m really excited to give you a little peek into my life & share a glimpse of the most special women in my life.

4. Christmas Lights

I am basically a child when it comes to Christmas & driving around to look at Christmas lights never gets old for me. I genuinely love it so much & look forward to it every year! I try to convince my family to go with me multiple times throughout the season but their love for Christmas lights might only run deep enough for one evening 😉 This year we’re also going on a Christmas train & I’m so excited to do that with our boys because I know they’re going to love it!

5. A Christmas Story

All growing up, my grandma would read us ‘A Christmas Carol’ on Christmas Eve. She has been reading it every Christmas Eve since my mom was little & it’s become such a fun tradition. Even if we were out of town, we would make sure to call her to read it to us because she is so animated when she reads it & it’s just not the same if someone else attempts to read it! It’s such a special thing for all of us & Christmas Eve just wouldn’t be the same without it. About 4 years ago we finally recorded her reading the story so that we have it forever & I’m so thankful that we have that video as a little keepsake. Thankfully she’s still here to read it to us in person & for that I’m forever thankful 🙂

I hope you guys enjoyed reading about the Christmas traditions that mean the most to me & now I would love to hear from you guys below in the comments! Comment below what your favorite holiday traditions are!

Caprese Style Wraps | Back-to-School Lunch Idea

1024 683 Sheridan Gregory

I can’t believe how quickly this summer flew by, it was definitely a summer we will never forget! We are officially back home from traveling & the boys are back in school. I keep asking myself, “How is Kannon in 1st grade already!?” It’s blowing my mind! Plus, Hendrix started his first year of preschool & it’s made me realize how quickly my babies are growing up. It’s such a bittersweet thing but I love watching them grow up & am so thankful we get to spend so much time together (especially since we do online school).

I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, I love prepping for back-to-school & always have. The new school supplies, shopping for new clothes & finding fun new lunch ideas that my boys will actually enjoy makes it an exciting time of year for all of us. This year Kannon has really been into cooking/preparing meals with us & I absolutely love that he’s learning to make meals at a young age. Cooking is a skill that I hope to instill in both of my boys before they move out one day & so far, they both have a lot of fun cooking up meals with us. Which leads me to this fun recipe we came up with!

We all are caprese obsessed over here but since we have tried cutting dairy from our diets, we thought we couldn’t enjoy it any longer. Cue Daiya! We discovered these Mozzarella Style Deluxe Cheeze Sticks that are dairy free, soy free AND gluten free. We were thrilled that they taste delicious & started incorporating them into recipes immediately! One of our absolute favorite ways to eat them is in these caprese style wraps. They are quick & healthy to make so they have been perfect for back-to-school lunches. With minimal prep, you can make these in a jiff AND your kiddos can even help you!

Let me know if you try this recipe out & if you want to see more recipes in the future. We have had a lot of fun incorporating Daiya products lately & I think you all would love this plant-based brand as much as we do! If you haven’t tried Daiya yet, you can find their products in more than 25,000 grocery stores including Whole Foods, Kroger, Safeway & Publix. We love to cook together & have a few favorites that we make on the regular using the Pepper Jack Style Cutting Board Collection Shreds & the Mozzarella Style Slices so let me know if you want me to post them for you all to enjoy 🙂

Dairy Free Caprese Style Wraps

Ingredients:

• Tortillas
Daiya Mozzarella Style Cheeze Sticks
• Tomatoes (sliced)
• Spinach
• Shredded Basil
• Balsamic Glaze

Directions:

1. Layer spinach, tomatoes, shredded basil & Daiya Cheeze Sticks on tortilla.
2. Drizzle with balsamic glaze
3. Fold in ends of the tortilla & then roll burrito style
4. Enjoy! (Yes, they’re THAT easy!)

*Special thanks to Daiya for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own 🙂

crater lake travel guide

Crater Lake & Mount Hood Travel Diary

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

So we’re traveling for 4 months… Now what!?

That was the question we asked ourselves once we decided we were going to travel for the summer. The thought of traveling long term has always been a dream of mine but the execution with a 6 year old & an (almost) 3 year old was going to take a lot of planning. I was up for the challenge though & immediately started brainstorming places we wanted to travel to.

One of the first ideas that popped into my head was a road trip through Oregon, Washington & Canada. I had done it once before but Kannon was a toddler & Adam wasn’t able to join us because of a work project so it would be a new adventure for them. One thing led to another & next thing we knew, we had a 3 week trip in an RV planned! Keep reading for the first part of our summer road trip adventure!

crater lake travel guide crater lake pet friendly

Day 1: Salt Lake City, Utah to Winnemucca, Nevada

Our first day consisted of driving from the Salt Lake City, Utah area to a small city named Winnemucca in Nevada. We didn’t want to drive the entire way to Crater Lake in one day so we decided to drive halfway & stop to sleep to break up the trip. I’m not going to lie, we slept in a Walmart parking lot that night & while it might sound very odd, it wasn’t bad at all, it was free & actually convenient because we could run into the store for water or any necessities we needed! Apparently, this is a thing for RV life & some Walmarts allow it but some don’t so if you’re looking to stay in a Walmart parking lot, make sure to check with the manager or they might come knocking on your door & make you leave in the middle of the night 🙂

Day 2: Winnemucca, Nevada to Crater Lake, Oregon

We woke up early (thanks to our sweet boys :)) & decided to get on the road since we still had about a 6-hour drive to Crater Lake. The drive was beautiful & we made plenty of pit stops along the way to let our boys get out, stretch their legs & throw some rocks on the side of the road (which is their favorite activity on road trips). This was our first time to Crater Lake & it was absolutely breathtaking! Photos don’t do it justice because you can’t quite capture the expansiveness of the lake & its surroundings but it truly is a sight to see. If you’re traveling through Oregon, I highly recommend making a stop, even if it’s a quick one, because it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

After exploring for a bit we jumped back in the RV & headed to our campsite. We stayed at Diamond Lake Campground ($24/night) & it was such a beautiful campground! The view of the lake from our RV window was lovely & besides the crazy amounts of mosquitos, it was incredible! We had a couple of major mishaps occur the next day but if you haven’t already, you can watch our vlog from this portion of the trip HERE. Those experiences made for a funny story & a crazy day but honestly, it made the trip that much more memorable & we were just thankful that we were safe.

trillium lake campground review mount hood travel guide

Day 3: Crater Lake, Oregon to Mount Hood, Oregon

What should have been about a 4 1/2 hour drive turned into a full day because of the crazy tire blowout I was talking about above (video of the day is HERE) BUT those moments are what make the adventure a true adventure & it’s a story that we’ll talk about for years to come. To be honest, I felt really proud of us for figuring the situation out considering we had never changed a flat tire on an RV, we didn’t have any cell service & we were blocking half of the lane of traffic. So all in all, I will take the experience as a win!

Once we finally made it to our campground near Mount Hood, we started a campfire, roasted marshmallows & watched the most beautiful sunset overlooking Trillium Lake & Mount Hood. The woman standing next to us said the sky was the most pink she’s ever seen it & she wasn’t lying, the sky was absolutely breathtaking!

Have you been to Crater Lake &/or Mount Hood before? What’s the most beautiful lake you’ve ever seen?

Our First Summer Vacation 2019

768 1024 Sheridan Gregory

If you guys don’t follow along with my YouTube videos, you may have missed our big announcement! I’ll post it here for you guys in case you want to catch up with our big summer plans 🙂

For those of you who did watch it, you know that we have a wild ride ahead for this summer. 4 months of traveling is no joke & the prep that went into getting everything ready & packed up was slightly absurd BUT I would also do it over again because I’m so excited for our adventures ahead. It’s been a dream of mine to travel more long-term for years now & this is our practice run to see how much we (aka the boys) can handle.

summer family trip idea

Jeans | Denim Jacket (medium wash version) | Red Sneakers

Our first adventure was a 3-week road trip in a motor home & I’m excited to put together a couple of posts for you guys with all of the places we stayed, the route we took, our must-haves for RV life, etc. This trip was one that put me slightly out of my comfort zone but this summer I’m really trying to broaden my horizons & do things that make me feel uncomfortable because I think it’s a great way to grow as an individual. Traveling in an RV might not sound like a big deal to most but I don’t personally love camping & the whole process makes me slightly anxious. I’m happy to say that I survived the trip though & actually really enjoyed the RV life!

I filmed a video with all of our must-have items that made being in an RV comfortable with 2 adults, 2 children & a dog that I’ll be sharing with you all in a few days. I discovered quite a few new products that made that “glamping” life so much easier & I can’t recommend them enough for road trips & traveling with kids. Let me know if you guys are interested in a post or video dedicated to what I brought in my makeup bag &/or the skincare products I can’t travel without!

What are your summer plans!?

Father’s Day Plans

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

We love any excuse to celebrate as a family & celebrating Adam is always so much fun because we end up having the best family adventure day! Since Hendrix’s birthday falls on Father’s Day this year, we decided to celebrate a little bit early so that they both had the opportunity to celebrate their special days. Adam loves activities so we planned the day around some of our favorite things which included yummy food, the carousel, the ferris wheel and a day spent running around with our boys.

old navy pineapple

The day was a complete success & I can’t get enough of their matching outfits! I think this might be the first time that we’ve ever had all 3 of them match & it melted my heart watching them all run around together in this cute pineapple print from Old Navy. If you guys haven’t already, you need to check out the fun summer prints Old Navy has! They have matching styles for the whole family (boys & girls included) & I love how colorful all of the different styles are. I have my eye on this watermelon print as well & might need to order before our next trip because you guys know I never miss an opportunity for a fun photoshoot.

We were so excited to partner with Old Navy again because they’re celebrating dads this month in honor of Father’s Day & using the hashtag on socials #dadtakes so we can all share the hilarious things that dads get up to with their minis. If you know Adam, you know that he is always having fun & doing hilarious things with Kannon & Hendrix so I thought this was the perfect fit & I’m excited to share more of his #dadtakes over the next few weeks so make sure you’re following along so you can see all the fun moments!

20 minute workout

20 Minute No Equipment Workout

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

Once upon a time there was a girl who had ample amounts of time to fit in workouts. Then, she had two children, started her own business & stopped working out somewhere along the way. Okay, I know that was the shortest story ever but does some variety of that story feel familiar to you? I can’t be the only one who got busy with life & stopped focusing on my own health!

I’ve honestly had the hardest time being consistent with workouts over the past few years & until recently, I couldn’t even find the energy to begin getting back into a workout regimen.

no equipment workout routine

Like most people, I have a love-hate relationship with working out. It’s mostly a love relationship, but as I’m sure you can all imagine, it can be super difficult to keep the momentum going & stay committed to exercising more days than not.  To make my life a little easier, I put together a quick & easy 20 minute workout that targets all areas of my body, gets my heartbeat pumping, and is able to be executed in whatever space & time frame I have available. So… let’s hold each other accountable! I encourage you to throw on some of your favorite workout jams & get ready to break a sweat!

full body at home workout

20 MINUTE (NO EQUIPMENT) WORKOUT

Dynamic quadricep stretch (30 seconds)

Standing, use your hand to draw your heel up toward your glute. Draw your knees to touch to deepen the stretch into your quadricep. Allow your opposite arm to reach up over head. Hold here a few breaths & repeat on other side.

Knee Hugs (30 seconds)

Also standing, interlace your hands right below your knee cap & draw your knee up in toward your chest. Try to keep your upper body upright as you breathe deep into your hip flexors. Switch out legs & repeat.

Chest extension stretch (30 seconds)

Interlace your hands behind your low back & draw your hands away from your shoulders (parallel to the ground). Try to keep your rib cage & shoulders down.

Jog in place (60 seconds)

Stay present. Find a steady breath.

REST (60 seconds)

Side shuffle (60 seconds)

Begin in an easy squat, feet hip’s width distance, hands clasped in front of you. Now find a gallop (or shuffle) from right to left & then back the other way. Spring off the ground & try to land softly on your feet. You should feel this in your inner & outer thighs.

Reverse lunges (30 seconds)

One foot at a time, step your leg back & lunge down until your knee hovers two inches off the ground. Your front lunge should have your knee stacked directly over your ankle. Alternate legs.

Modified push ups (30 seconds)

Option to take a full push up! Otherwise, drop to your knees & plant your palms wide. Lower down so that your elbows stack over your wrists & exhale as you push back up. Try to keep your tailbone lengthened toward your heels & core engaged!

High knees (30 seconds)

Getting into a bit of cardio, find a jog, but this time lift your knees up in line with your hips. This will take a bit more of a jump & get your heart beat pumping! Try to stay as upright as possible & option to hold your forearms parallel to the ground in front of you & hit your palms with your knees as they lift.

Hip lifts (60 seconds)

Roll onto your back and plant the soles of your feet to the ground hip’s width distance apart. Plant your palms face down alongside your hips. As you inhale, squeeze your glutes & lift your hips up toward the sky. As you exhale, lower all the way back down to the ground. Make sure your tailbone hits the floor every time you lower!

REST (60 seconds)

Squats (60 seconds)

Plant your feet hip’s width distance apart, hands to heart center. Inhale, lower down into a squat so that your knees track safely over your second toes. Exhale as you press back up to standing.

Superman (30 seconds)

Lower onto your belly, arms stretched out over head. Inhale, use your back strength to lift your arms & legs up off the ground (just like you’re flying!). Exhale, slowly lower to the floor. This exercise targets your erector spinae (lower back muscles), along with your glutes & hamstrings.

Mountain climbers (30 seconds)

Find a high plank position, with your shoulder stacked over your wrists. Press the floor down and away so that the valley in-between your shoulder blades domes toward the sky (as opposed to sinking in). Draw your knee nose, and alternate as fast as you can!

Arm circles (60 seconds each direction)

Roll up to standing & “T” your arms out to the side. Begin to draw small circles forward from your shoulder joint. Repeat with circles in the opposite direction.

Jumping jacks (30 seconds)

We all know how to do jumping jacks right?! Make sure your heels hit the floor every time! Don’t forget to smile & have fun 🙂

REST (60 seconds)

Plank saw (30 seconds)

Come back to high plank pose & then replace where your hands are with your elbows, moving into a forearm plank. Align your hips with your shoulders & press out through your heels. Inhale, shift an inch forward onto your toes, exhale, shift back.

Seated ab twists (30 seconds)

Come to seated with the soles of your feet to the ground. Begin to recline back into a boat pose with a long spine, hands at heart center. Twist right and left, while trying to keep your hips stable. Draw your elbow as close to the ground as you can so that you work deeper into your obliques.

Scissor kicks (30 seconds)

Lay on your back & lengthen one leg up toward the sky perpendicular to the ground. Lift your chest & head off the ground. Now press your belly button toward the floor to engage your core. Keep your upper body engaged & lifted, then switch out your legs. Option to interlace your hands behind your head, elbows wide, & draw your opposite elbow to knee as your scissor your legs. Another option is to keep your lowered leg hovered off the ground to get into your deep transverse abs!

Sit up with punches (30 seconds)

Lay on your back & draw the soles of your feet to the floor. Place your arms up in front of you with your hands in fists like you’re ready to fight. Inhale, roll up through your spine to seated. At the top send out two strong punches, then exhale & roll back down to the floor.

Seal pose (30 seconds)

Roll onto your belly & let your legs easily splay apart about hip’s distance wide. Plant your palms under your shoulders & press yourself up so that your shoulders stack over your wrists. Give the front line of your body a nice long stretch. Slowly lower all the way to the ground.

Seated Forward Fold (30 seconds)

Extend your legs out on front of you & flex both feet. Inhale & reach your arms up over head. As you exhale fold down over your legs. If you’d like to keep this nice and active, as you inhale lengthen your spine and slightly lift your gaze & heart up and forward. As you exhale, deepen your stretch & allow your hamstrings to stretch.

Supine Figure 4 (30 seconds each side)

Lay on your back & cross your right ankle over your left thigh. Now wrap your hands around your left thigh & draw your knee in toward your body. Lengthen your tailbone flat to the floor & try to relax your shoulders away from your face. Repeat on the other side.

Spine twist (30 seconds)

Lying on your back, draw your right knee up into your chest, then guide your knee across your body. “T” out your arms & take your gaze to the right. Anchor both shoulders flat to the floor (more important than getting your knee to the ground). Hold for a few breaths & repeat on the other side.

Butterfly stretch (30 seconds)

Slowly roll up to seated & draw the soles of your feet together to touch, knees wide.    Begin to fold your upper body down toward your feet. Hold here & breathe. Just as slowly, roll back up through your spine back to seated.

How do you feel!? Ready to take on the day? I thought so. Sometimes you just need a little movement to energize your body & prepare for the day ahead. Something is definitely better than nothing & once you start feeling the results, you’ll surely be back for more. I’m always looking for new ways to stay inspired & motivated, so be sure to comment below with tips on how YOU stay active throughout even your busiest week!
