Nordstrom Sale Must Haves

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

While a lot of us are being very conscious of our spending at the moment, I wanted to share this sale BUT only share the things that I use regularly. 25% off is a major deal for Nordstrom & I didn’t want any of you to miss out on anything that you’ve been wanting to order. For example, I desperately needed a new moisturizer & so I ordered one that I absolutely love & saved 25% off on it! If you’re not in the position to be shopping right now, please don’t. Like I said above, I only purchased a moisturizer because I was completely finished with my current one & genuinely needed one.

Sending love to all of you! I know this is a weird time in life & I hope you know that we’re all in this together. If you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here for you girls!

Homeschool Daily Routine

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

With all of the madness going on in the world right now, I think we’re all looking for a little bit of info to get us through this time at home. I am not a homeschool expert by any means but we have homeschooled for 3 years now (technically online school for 2 of those years) & I figured I would give you a glimpse into our daily routine for any of you struggling with having the kids home all day because guys.. It is a HARD adjustment (especially when it wasn’t a voluntary decision for so many of you). Good news is that with a bit of structure, you will get into a routine & make it work!

homeschool routine

7am – Wake up & Eat breakfast

7:45am – Get ready for the day

Getting dressed & ready for the day is key for productivity! I know it might sound a bit odd since you’re not leaving your home but trust me, sitting around in pjs all day every day isn’t great for your mental health & productivity.

8am – Get wiggles out

Basically free play before getting school started so that the kids feel like they have a bit of creative play before having to sit down & focus.

8:30am – Begin school

Kannon does his schooling online through an online school so all of his curriculum is online or in resources given to us through his school/teacher. Hendrix is currently doing homeschool preschool so we come up with different learning activities for him on our own & use a variety of different resources (similar to what we used for Kannons homeschool preschool). Let me know if you’re interested in the resources & books/activities we use & I can put together a blog post on that for you ladies!

9:30am – Take a break / Get our bodies moving

The key to doing homeschool or online school is to take breaks! Especially in the beginning & with younger children. When we first started homeschooling we took breaks every 15-20 minutes & we still take breaks between classes just to give their minds a minute to rest & reset. It might take longer to finish but I promise it will save you & them a lot of frustration 🙂

9:45am – School

11:45am – Eat Lunch

12:30pm – Finish school

Make sure to continue taking breaks whenever necessary. We don’t follow a hard & fast rule with these times because some days Kannon has live classes with his teacher or more of a work load but I wanted to give you a range of how long we do each thing for as an example.

2pm – Free play

The boys typically dive into their toys & run around like little maniacs haha but they play together really well (most of the time ;)) for an hour or so!

3pm – Arts & Crafts

3:30pm – Screen time

They typically sit down to watch tv or play on their tablets. These tablets are amazing & I don’t stress too much about the content on them. I was a bit iffy on if I would like them or not & I am beyond happy that we decided to purchase them over a year ago because the boys are obsessssed. I can’t recommend them enough!

4:30pm – Family Time

We play games together, watch a movie, run around, do puzzles, have nerf tournaments, etc.

5:30/6pm – Dinner prep / Dinner

7pm – Bedtime Routine

7:30pm – Bedtime

The boys are in bed & typically asleep by 7:30pm & then we get a few hours to hang out as just adults & regain our sanity from a busy day since we work from home most of the time & have kids at home all day 🙂

Let me know if you guys would like a post on our favorite resources for doing school at home with our 3 year old & 7 year old!

Father’s Day Plans

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

We love any excuse to celebrate as a family & celebrating Adam is always so much fun because we end up having the best family adventure day! Since Hendrix’s birthday falls on Father’s Day this year, we decided to celebrate a little bit early so that they both had the opportunity to celebrate their special days. Adam loves activities so we planned the day around some of our favorite things which included yummy food, the carousel, the ferris wheel and a day spent running around with our boys.

The day was a complete success & I can’t get enough of their matching outfits! I think this might be the first time that we’ve ever had all 3 of them match & it melted my heart watching them all run around together in this cute pineapple print from Old Navy. If you guys haven’t already, you need to check out the fun summer prints Old Navy has! They have matching styles for the whole family (boys & girls included) & I love how colorful all of the different styles are. I have my eye on this watermelon print as well & might need to order before our next trip because you guys know I never miss an opportunity for a fun photoshoot.

We were so excited to partner with Old Navy again because they’re celebrating dads this month in honor of Father’s Day & using the hashtag on socials #dadtakes so we can all share the hilarious things that dads get up to with their minis. If you know Adam, you know that he is always having fun & doing hilarious things with Kannon & Hendrix so I thought this was the perfect fit & I’m excited to share more of his #dadtakes over the next few weeks so make sure you’re following along so you can see all the fun moments!

Halloween Costumes with JCPenney

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

Halloween is almost here & we are enjoying all of the festivities before the holiday has come & gone. We’ve been to the pumpkin patch 4 times already & as you can tell from these photos, the boys are still obsessed.  Adam & the boys LOVE Halloween & it’s so fun to see the excitement in all of their faces every time we do something festive. Kannon has been begging to carve pumpkins & I’m so happy we’re back in town just in time to carve them before Wednesday!

Now, I don’t know about you guys but with how quickly the year has flown by, we were a little late to picking out the boys Halloween costumes. The boys couldn’t make up their minds & we have been traveling so much that we completely procrastinated. We were all so excited to partner with JCPenney on this post though because it made the process SO easy & the boys couldn’t wait until Halloween to wear their Buzz Lightyear & Flash costumes! We introduced Hendrix to Toy Story recently & Buzz is by far his favorite character so he completely freaked out when we put him in this costume for the first time. Holidays are so much fun with kids, I can’t handle it!!

If you’re still on the hunt for a costume (or anything Halloween related), head on over to JCPenney because they’re having killer deals. With savings so good, we might be stocking up on our Halloween costumes & décor for next year!!

What are you (or your kids) going to be for Halloween this year? Comment below!

Target Date

Our Weekly Target Date

1024 683 Sheridan Gregory

I’m not even going to pretend that we don’t frequent Target at least once a week. With two kids, there is always something we need (or want) & to be honest, it’s always an adventure for us!

Even though we always leave with more than we planned on purchasing (anyone else!?), Target is our go-to for all of our everyday essentials. Baby formula & laundry detergent being our most frequent purchases because we go through these insanely quick. I think that anyone that has raised a baby or child, can testify to the glorious amounts of laundry that happen on the weekly (daily?) basis. With 4 of us now, the amount of laundry we go through is almost mind blowing. Which is why we did a happy dance when we found out that our favorite laundry detergent, Persil ProClean, is now sold in Target nationwide!!

Honestly, you can’t beat Persil. We were introduced to it a couple years ago & fell in love with how well it worked and the amazing scent. Since I’m surrounded by boys, it’s necessary to have a laundry detergent that smells lovely, gets stains out AND is gentle on our clothes. Persil ProClean does all of that & now that it’s at Target nationwide, we don’t have to worry about finding it, we can just add it to our list of Target must-haves & we’re good to go! If you couldn’t tell by now.. It’s the little things in life that make me happy!

I hope you enjoy the video! Leave a comment below if you are as addicted to Target as we are 🙂

Jumping Beans Tee Kohls Jumping Beans Jumping Beans Baby Boy Jumping Beans Toddler Jumping Beans Collection Jumping Beans Baby New Jumping Beans

These little guys sure brighten our lives! I love having adventures around LA & it’s the best when we document days like this because looking back on how much they’ve grown is the most bittersweet thing. Kids grow up far too quickly!

On another note though, how cute are their little outfits from Kohl’s!? I always love a good graphic tee & when I find them for my boys, I immediately want to purchase them (& secretly wish they made them in my size). Both boys outfits are from the newly re-designed Jumping Beans collection that just launched in-store & online at Kohl’s this month. The new Jumping Beans collection has such adorable pieces & I love how the clothing is such great quality. With two adventurous little boys, we need clothes that are going to last & these will definitely do just that! With Spring & Summer right around the corner, I’m definitely going to make a few more purchases from this collection. (I especially love this tee & these shorts!) Plus, they’re having a site wide sale for 20% off! Use code: YES2YOU for 20% off + 3x points!

If you have little ones, have you checked out the new Jumping Beans collection at Kohl’s?

How We Road Trip With Kids

how to road trip kids road trip outfit road trip with kids diy patch denim jacketDIY Patch Denim Jacket

Sneakers

White Long Sleeve Top

Gold Trio Necklace

Road trips are basically in my blood at this point. Growing up, we took so many road trips as a family that I honestly couldn’t count if I tried. Later on, as a teenager, I continued the tradition & took a lot of road trips with friends. While some people loathe road trips, I personally think they’re some of the best adventures! Taking road trips with 2 kids under 4 (or children in general) might sound daunting, we always have a fun adventure & make so many fun memories.

We get asked all the time how our boys do on long drives &, to be honest, they do really well! Our secret? We just prep them young haha. From the time they are born, we get them used to their car seats. I mean, why not get them used to things they’ll be sitting in for the next 7-8 years of their lives? It honestly makes life so much easier for those times when you have to be in the car for an extended period of time. When they’re really young, though make sure you don’t have them in their car seats for too long of stretches (it can give them a flat skull) & make sure they’re not napping in them unsupervised (they can stop breathing).

Another thing I highly recommend is to have lots of snacks & “checkpoints”. My mom came up with the “checkpoint system” when we were kids. I’m sure all of you road tripping kids had something similar! & every hour (if we behaved well), we were able to choose a little treat. If you don’t want to give your kids sugar, I highly suggest going to the dollar store or checking out Target’s dollar section & picking out little toys or coloring books that they can play with. The key is to keep them occupied & looking forward to something so they’re not constantly whining or asking, “are we there yet!?”

The last thing I recommend for road trips (& the thing that makes them the best adventures), is to take your time! If the kids are getting cranky, stop & let them stretch their legs. Sure, it takes longer that way but trust me, those times will probably be some of your favorite moments. I have so many memories of Kannon running around & having fun in the most random places on road trips. You would be surprised how much fun you can have in the middle of nowhere if you just stop stressing about getting to the destination & make it an adventure 🙂

Do you have any road trip tips? Let me know in the comments below!

20 Small Ways to be Healthier in 2017

1024 683 Sheridan Gregory

One thing about being a mom, or a working woman in general, is that health can unfortunately fall to the end of the priority list. I try to eat clean for the most part, but I’m also too lenient with myself. Since I want to raise health-conscious boys and feel good for myself, I’m incorporating small things throughout my day that lead to improvement. Every little thing counts when it comes to health, and by starting small, hopefully these turn into bigger habits. Here are 20 things I’m currently working on:

Kings Canyon Family DayThe Gregory Family Kings Canyon Winter _gsl3645 _gsl3739 _gsl3721 _gsl3668 _gsl3680 _gsl3655 _gsl3759 _gsl36381.) Add a large handful of spinach to my morning smoothie or eggs.

2.) Drink a cup of water right when I wake up.

3.) Start with 10 minutes of exercise 4x a week, and increase the time gradually.

4.) Keep healthy backup options in our freezer (brown rice and veggies for stir fry, whole wheat bread and tortillas, ground turkey (or veggie crumbles) for pasta, frozen kale for smoothies, etc.).

5.) Sip on hot lemon water in the morning before eating.

6.) Add vegetables to each meal.

7.) Save sugar for a couple times a week.

8.) Make a big healthy crockpot meal each week, freeze leftovers.

9.) Meal plan.

10.) Stretch with the boys.

11.) Drink sparkling water instead of soda.

12.) Swap a lettuce wrap for a sandwich once a week.

13.) Try a new fitness class once a month. Perfect for a date day or time with girlfriends!

14.) Use Instacart for healthy ingredients if I can’t get to the grocery (instead of takeout).

15.) Set an alarm for every hour to get up, walk around, have some water.

16.) Do morning dance parties with the boys to get moving. Or whenever we need energy.

17.) Take a daily probiotic and vitamin.

18.) Use less salt.

19.) Read motivational blogs or listen to podcasts when I’m feeling lazy.

20.) Prioritize sleep! Set an alarm for an hour before bed to turn off tech, do my nightly routine, and get into bed with a book.

What small things do you incorporate to feel healthy? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

1 Resolution Everyone Should Make

1024 683 Sheridan Gregory

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about this coming year. The end of a year is always hard because you think about the year that has passed & all of the memories that were created. It’s also a wonderful time though because you start thinking about a clean slate & a brand new year to fill with even more memories.

Family Photos Sheridan GregoryWhile I loved my resolution from last year, I thought it would be a good idea to come up with a new one for 2017. & honestly, I think this is 1 resolution that everyone should make…

-SERVE OTHERS-

It seems so cliche but in all reality, serving others will not only make that person happy but make you happy as well. It doesn’t have to be a large act of service either, it could be a simple compliment. Even the littlest nice things can change someone’s day. So I’m going to challenge us all to try to do 1 kind thing for someone else every day during 2017. Let’s create some positivity in the world 🙂

I’m dying to know though.. What are your resolutions for 2017!? Comment below!

Christmas Week

683 1024 Sheridan Gregory

Merry Christmas week to you (if you celebrate), but either way, happy holidays! I found the photo above from this time last year & I can’t believe how much Kannon has grown up! (& finally allows us to get his hair cut :))

This is one of the best weeks of the year in my opinion. I’m beyond thrilled to watch the boys get excited for Santa, make cookies to leave for him and his reindeers (and me…), and for the overall love that comes with this holiday.

I count our blessings every single day, but I wanted this post to be dedicated to those who aren’t as lucky. I think it’s crucial to teach my boys how to be humble, gracious, charitable men, and that starts with giving.

Here are three ways to give back this week, because it feels even better than receiving sometimes!

  1. Feeding America – As we all gorge ourselves over the holidays, it’s so sad to think that many families and children don’t have food to eat. This is a wonderful organization. Making your own food and handing it out to a homeless shelter or even people on the streets is another way to fill some bellies. Or volunteering at a local shelter.
  2. Goodwill – It’s the perfect time of year to detox your home and get rid of clutter. Spend the week after Christmas making room for the new goodies that Santa brought and give away everything you don’t need. You can simply drop off most home goods and apparel to your local Goodwill. Winter jackets and warm clothes are especially helpful this time of year.
  3. ASPCA – We’re animal lovers and seeing cold, homeless animals on the street is heartbreaking. If you too are passionate about animals, this is an excellent organization to give to. Also, I’m pretty sure your kids would love a rescue animal 🙂 Just sayin’!

I hope you have a happy, safe week with the people you love the most!
