I love a good little black dress, or LBD if you will. I believe that a good LBD is one of the most classic pieces you can have in your wardrobe. I also love the classic shape of a wrap dress & think that the combination with the LBD is a piece that will be in style for many years to come. In other words, you’ll definitely get your wear out of this one!

When we moved to NYC, I literally purged my closet & gave away almost everything. I didn’t know how long we would be gone for & it was freezing cold there at the time, so none of the clothing I owned was going to work anyways. It was one of the most freeing things I’ve ever done because deep down I’m secretly a mini hoarder. I’m the person who says, “I might need it one day!” But I’m sincerely working on that & trying to live a more minimalist lifestyle & not hold onto a ton of “things”. Living in NYC made me realize how few things I actually need to live a very happy/carefree lifestyle. I guess living in a small apartment with 2 adults, 1 child & 2 dogs can do that for you 🙂

Moral of the story, I’m slowly rebuilding my wardrobe back here in LA & this dress was one of the first pieces I bought to start that process! Plus, it is perfect for post pregnancy because it fits over my mummy tummy & will still fit when that’s finally fully gone 🙂

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Neutrals will forever be my go-to, especially on those days when I “have nothing to wear”! Black jeans, a striped tee & black booties are all staples in my closet. With the addition of a fun leather jacket & a black tassel crossbody bag, you have a classic (but easy to put together) look!

I’ve owned quite a few leather jackets over the years but I especially love the look of this one. It’s the perfect leather jacket for Spring/Summer because it’s not too heavy & you can dress it up or down very easily. It’s definitely one of those pieces you wear over & over again because of how versatile it is. I honestly will never get sick of everyday neutrals because they are the pieces in your closet that you will wear over & over again. I was watching an interview with Emma Watson lately where she was talking about sustainability in fashion & she mentioned that if you can picture yourself wearing a piece at least 30 times, then it is worth purchasing. I loved that because I have so many pieces that I wear continuously & while I might not always purchase sustainable pieces, I do try to keep the majority of my closet full of items I can mix & match for years to come.

I hope you guys are having a great week so far!

We spent the other day having an adventure here in NYC. We went to the NYC Fire Museum & then spent the day in Central Park. I hadn’t really ever explored Central Park on the Upper East Side & completely fell in love with it! Don’t get me wrong, the West Side is great too, I just prefer the East Side now.

I wore this comfy & classic tan & black look for a cool Spring day out & about. This sweater is a new favorite for those days/nights when it’s a little bit chilly & you want something comfy to throw on (& it’s under $50!). These foldable espadrilles are perfect for days out & I am completely in love with them. I’m definitely going to be keeping this pair in my bag at all times in case other shoes I’m wearing are feeling uncomfortable. Oh & these jeans are my new favorite maternity jeans. I can’t believe I never bought maternity jeans with my first pregnancy.. They are such a lifesaver! I will say though that the elastic band on these isn’t as stretchy as I would like it to be so I sized up one size so that they were the comfortable fit I was looking for.

Now onto my favorite part of this whole look.. The jewelry!! I feel like this necklace & ring were the perfect addition to this classic look. The tassel & texture on both the ring & necklace make them the perfect pieces for Spring! Kendra Scott is one of my favorite jewelry brands & I love how versatile these pieces are. If you’re in need of a gift for Mother’s Day, check out these gift sets as well because they’re perfect for those special moms in your life!

If it wasn’t obvious already, I have a thing for lace up details. Whether it’s lace up dresses, sweaters or shoes, I can’t get enough of them! I realize my last post featured a lace up dress & now I’m featuring a lace up sweater, but you win some & lose some. In all reality though, this is just a win-win situation because both the dress & the sweater are perfect pieces for Spring! Plus, while this lace up sweater sold out really fast, I found an identical one & it’s on sale for $25! You guys know I love a good deal & I had to share that one with you!

This week has been incredibly busy so far & I’m really looking forward to a relaxing weekend. While I haven’t been walking as much, we’ve been exploring the city & shooting some fun content that I can’t wait to share with you guys very soon! I can’t believe baby boy #2 will be here in 2 months or less! I honestly haven’t even started preparing or buying things.. Adam says I’ve hit my nesting stage though since I’m getting so antsy about getting everything ready for his arrival. I guess it’s time for me to start getting everything ready! Do you guys have any fun plans for the weekend? Am I the only one looking forward to two full days of relaxing!?

I think the weather was tired of me complaining about it so it decided to feel like Spring finally! While it’s not quite what I would consider “warm”, it’s been in the 6o’s & it’s supposed to get up to 70 this weekend. You guys know that I’m taking complete advantage of the warmer temps & dressing the part. Please excuse my pale skin! I usually am pretty pale in general, but these past few months in NYC have taken my skin color to a whole new shade of being pale. I should probably think about using some self tanner but let’s be honest, my legs would be splotchy messes trying to apply it around my expanding baby bump 🙂

It’s festival season on the west coast & with the first weekend of Coachella happening, I wanted to feel like I was experiencing all the fun with this floral & fringe look. I love a good floral print & I thought this emerald green dress was a fun take on the classic floral. This suede jacket is perfect to throw over dresses or even jeans or denim shorts for Spring/Summer. While this exact one sold out pretty quickly, I found a very similar one for you guys looking for a fun fringe jacket. Sorry for the repeat of these booties but I am practically obsessed with them & wear them almost everyday. They’re the perfect neutral bootie for all seasons & I sincerely think that everyone should own a pair. (PS. they come in black leather as well)

My parents have been in town this week & we have been soaking up every minute we can with them. The one thing I miss the most about the west coast, is my family. There really isn’t anything better than family & a move across the country brings that even more into perspective. I’m so thankful that we have been able to spend time with them this week. Kannon is literally the happiest kid when he is with them & I love seeing them get to play together again! Hope you all are having a great weekend!

The mini dress obsession continues.. While the weather has been warm here in NYC lately, it’s still way too cold for me to be sporting bare legs (plus, I could possibly blind you guys with how pale I am these days :)). I know, I’m a wimp when it comes to colder weather & talk about it far too frequently. When you’re born & raised in Arizona and then move to Southern California when you’re 17, that’s just expected. Back to this look though! I talked about it a couple posts ago but I’m loving mini dresses these days! When I saw this floral mini dress from Zappos, I knew it would be perfect for transitioning into Spring here in NYC. The long sleeves keep me warm enough on cool days & I love that it’s a bit longer in the back so if you’re not wearing pants, you don’t have to worry about anything showing. & on another note, I honestly can’t get enough of Zappos fast shipping & free returns. Especially with this growing baby bump of mine (I’m just about 29 weeks & this little boy is growing rapidly!). I never know what will fit these days & I love being able to order multiple sizes & just send back whichever size doesn’t fit. (PS. this dress fits true to size!) I am constantly scrolling through their app to see what’s new & I love that it’s so easy to transition from season to season because they carry so many different brands & styles. Major win, win in my opinion!

I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far! Thanks for following along!

2016 Spring Bag Trends

10 Must Have Spring Bags

1024 683 Sheridan Gregory

Spring Bags 2016While it’s technically already Spring, most days here in NYC don’t quite feel like it yet. I am beyond ready for warmer weather though! I am currently lusting over cute sandals & dresses but thankfully I can still transition parts of my wardrobe before it gets completely warm. I love that a handbag can really pull together an outfit! You can be wearing something basic & throw on a cute bag & completely transform the look.  I thought I would do a fun roundup of my favorite trends for Spring bags & share my favorite 10 must have Spring bags with you guys! I’ve been stalking Lyst’s bag section deciding which bag I want to add to my collection next & I feel like I’ve found some really good ones to choose from 🙂

1.)  Structured

Blush Pink Backpack

Pink Backpack

Red Kate Spade

Red Kate Spade

I love a good structured bag all year round but I am loving all of the fun colors for Spring! I also love the look of a structured backpack & will definitely be purchasing one. If you’re a mom, you know how convenient a backpack can be while chasing after a toddler or even just as a diaper bag. Gotta keep those hands free!

2.)  Fringe

Fringe Rebecca Minkoff

Pink Fringe Bag

Fringe YSL

White Fringe Bag

I can’t get enough of this trend! Whether it’s on a bag, a piece of clothing, or on a pair of shoes, I am obsessed with fringe. Perfect for festival season!

3.) Tassels

Sole Society Crossbody

Black Tassel Bag

J.Crew Bucket Bag

Blue Tassel Bucket Bag

Another trend that seems to be a big hit this season are tassels. I love the look of tassels on a bag because it can add a little pop to a more basic look. This black crossbody from Sole Society is my favorite right now because it has such a classic look to it, while still giving off a fun vibe.

4.)  Laser Cut

Laser Cut Sole Society

Cognac Saddle Bag

Chloe Tassel Bag

White Laser Cut Shoulder Bag

Whether you call it laser cut or perforated, I absolutely love this look! So much detail is added & like the crossbody I’m wearing above, it adds so much to a more classic outfit.

5.) Studs

White Rebecca Minkoff

White Stud Crossbody

MCM Backpack

Blue Stud Backpack

I’ve been a massive fan of studs for what seems like forever but I love the different styles you can find these days. This Rebecca Minkoff bag is one of my all time favorites & I have been wearing it constantly! I love the look of the round studs as opposed to the classic squares.

Which style is your favorite!?

I shot this look a few weeks after I found out I was pregnant & unfortunately got so sick that I took a hiatus from blogging. It feels SO good to be back now though! I figured I would share this look because I love this military green jacket & adventure tee (which is on sale for $14!). We shot these photos up at Big Bear & looking at them is making me a bit homesick for California. Don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely loving NYC, it’s just a very big change. I think that both me & Kannon are going through a bit of an adjustment period still. As we slowly get our new place together & decorated, we both are feeling much better about the whole situation! I forgot how much work it is to decorate a new apartment (even if it’s just a small space) & because we still have our place in LA, we’ve had to order everything new & it’s taking awhile for it all to finally arrive. I can’t wait to be 100% settled! Enough rambling about or move though..

Stay tuned for more fashion & beauty posts coming soon! I have a few Valentine’s posts coming early next week & I’m incredibly excited for them (& I hope you guys will enjoy them as well 🙂

Goodbye Summer

I’m literally shocked that it’s already the end of September.. I’m not sure where Summer went (we were gone almost the entire Summer, so maybe that’s where it went) but I do know that it’s nearly October & it’s time to start saying “Goodbye Summer”. I’m going to be completely honest with you guys, it’s a bit hard to prep for Fall/Autumn when it’s been 90 degrees outside & we’ve been having beach days on the regular. I’m soaking up the sunshine while mentally preparing for cozy sweaters, vampy lips & pumpkin hot cocoa. I’m determined to start posting Fall outfits & makeup looks though so be prepared for those coming your way soon! Although I may be sweating profusely underneath my layers (TMI?) so if you see that, let’s pretend I’m just “glowing” 😉 On a serious note, I want to know what Fall/Autumn posts you guys want to see! Outfits, makeup tutorials, recipes, DIY’s? Let me know!!

It’s raining here in LA today & it’s actually feeling a bit like Fall. I know I shouldn’t say that because I’m going to jinx the weather & tomorrow it will probably be 90 degrees again. For today though, I’m going to cherish the rainy weather & light a candle, snuggle on the couch & catch up on some work (while binge watching Gilmore Girls :))

In case you don’t follow me on Instagram, both me & Kannon got a bad virus the night before we were supposed to fly to NYC for Fashion Week. So unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip. I was incredibly bummed because I had been planning for it but realized I can just go in February & that life will go on! Sometimes life likes to throw you curve balls! You know what they say though… When life throws you curve balls.. Wear an incredible Fall floral maxi dress? Yeah, that’s not correct but this dress really does make life a little bit better! P.S. If the high slit is a little bit too much for you, I just use a tiny safety pin or a piece of double sided tape to close it a little bit 🙂
