Happy Cinco de Mayo! Neutrals will forever be my go-to, especially on those days when I “have nothing to wear”! Black jeans, a striped tee & black booties are all staples in my closet. With the addition of a fun leather jacket & a black tassel crossbody bag, you have a classic (but easy to put together) look!

I’ve owned quite a few leather jackets over the years but I especially love the look of this one. It’s the perfect leather jacket for Spring/Summer because it’s not too heavy & you can dress it up or down very easily. It’s definitely one of those pieces you wear over & over again because of how versatile it is. I honestly will never get sick of everyday neutrals because they are the pieces in your closet that you will wear over & over again. I was watching an interview with Emma Watson lately where she was talking about sustainability in fashion & she mentioned that if you can picture yourself wearing a piece at least 30 times, then it is worth purchasing. I loved that because I have so many pieces that I wear continuously & while I might not always purchase sustainable pieces, I do try to keep the majority of my closet full of items I can mix & match for years to come.

I hope you guys are having a great week so far!

Happy Monday!!

I hope you all had a great weekend! My husband has been filming & I love that he’s had the weekends off so we can have mini adventures & explore together. The time we get to spend together as a little family is always my absolute favorite. Plus, I always get excited that another week has passed because that’s one more week closer to meeting this little love in my belly! Less than 11 weeks to go guys!!

Now onto this dress — If you guys couldn’t tell, I love the brand Yumi Kim. Their feminine dresses are some of my absolute favorites & the patterns are always gorgeous. While this periwinkle mini wrap dress may have fit me a little bit better pre-pregnancy, or even just a couple of months ago, I just had to wear it. I love the long billowy sleeves against the shorter hem of the dress. It just screams feminine to me & is perfect for Spring & Summer. You better believe I’ll be pulling this one out again once baby boy is born in June! On a side note, I didn’t love the fact that I had to wear tights with this look because it kind of took away from the Spring feel but when the winds are blowing at 25mph, you gotta do what you’ve gotta do! I would definitely suggest wearing this with bare legs 😉

Also, I’ve been asked by numerous people to start including some posts on motherhood & pregnancy. Let me know what kind of content you want to see in those & I will start prepping them! Feel free to comment below or send me an email (sheridan@blueeyedfinch.com) with any post suggestions (motherhood, beauty, fashion, skincare, food). I love hearing from you guys & getting content up that you’re all interested in viewing 🙂

I love a good wrap dress. There is something so classic & feminine about them that instantly draws me to them. I also love that I can wear them while pregnant & they fit over my growing belly. It’s the little things in life guys 🙂 This print from Yumi Kim is so fun to layer for the colder months & I can’t wait to wear it with lace up sandals when the weather warms up. I paired this dress with an oversized blazer & over the knee boots to add some layers & texture because it was a chilly day. I was on the search for some good quality over the knee boots that had a bit of a heel but not too tall for being pregnant (I know, I get very specific with my purchases). It took me ages but I finally found this pair from ASOS & for under $100, I scooped them up as fast as I could! I bought this blazer ages ago from Piperlime before it shut down but I still love how classic it is that I wear it all the time. I found a similar one here if you’re interested in this style & fit. On another note, can you tell I’ve just been over my contacts lately? I find myself wearing my glasses day after day & I’m thinking I need to get another pair so I can mix it up a bit. I’m not going to lie though, it’s so nice to not have irritated eyes, especially in this cold/windy weather!

I hope you guys are having a great week so far! If you haven’t already, make sure to sign up for my newsletter on the right column of my blog. I’m going to start doing weekly newsletters with exclusive content & I don’t want you guys to miss out on that! How To Transition Your Wardrobe

How To Transition Your Wardrobe How To Transition Your Wardrobe How To Transition Your WardrobeFloral Dress: c/o Yumi KimLeather Jacket: SheInSunglasses(My Favorite!!): c/o DSTLD

Transitioning your wardrobe between seasons can sometimes seem complicated. In fact, sometimes you might feel like you need an entire new wardrobe altogether. I’m here to tell you guys that you don’t 🙂 I’m sure you all knew that though! I honestly love transitioning my wardrobe every season. Of course I buy new clothes, but I love that I can wear my Spring/Summer pieces in a whole new way by layering. I thought I would share my favorite ways to transition your wardrobe for Fall/Autumn so.. Let’s get started!!

1.) Add a jacket/coat – I know that this is the most basic suggestion but adding a jacket can completely change your entire look. The dress I’m wearing in the photos above is bright & the light fabric make it perfect for Summer. Throwing on this leather jacket not only gives it an edgier vibe but makes the whole look warmer & darkens the brightness of the floral dress. Jackets & coats are perfect transition pieces because you can carry them from year to year (I’ve had this leather jacket for 3 years now!).

2.) Add tights – Another basic suggestion but one of my absolute favorite ways to transition my shorter dresses for cooler weather. Do you have a mini dress or skirt that you absolutely love? Don’t shove it to the back of your closet just yet! Throw on a classic pair of black tights or spruce up your look by adding a pair of colored tights. You guys will be seeing a lot of tights when the weather finally cools down here in LA 🙂

3.) Throw on a sweater – Another way to transition dresses for cooler weather is to throw a sweater on over top of the dress. This creates the illusion of a skirt & is perfect for when the weather isn’t too frigid yet. I love to tuck a sweater into a belt around your waist for a fun look!

4.) Wear boots/booties – While I’m the person who wears booties all year round (don’t judge me ;)) Most people save boots & booties for the cooler months. Throwing on a pair of boots instead of a pair of flats or heels ,will not only keep your feet warm but will instantly change your look from Summer to Fall.

5.) Swap brights for neutrals – I’m not saying you can’t wear bright colors during the Fall (cue bright plaid please!) but pairing your bright shades with neutral tones will balance out your look & keep you Fall appropriate.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post I put together on how to transition your wardrobe for the cooler months. Let me know if there are any other posts you would like to see like this! Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far 🙂

It’s raining here in LA today & it’s actually feeling a bit like Fall. I know I shouldn’t say that because I’m going to jinx the weather & tomorrow it will probably be 90 degrees again. For today though, I’m going to cherish the rainy weather & light a candle, snuggle on the couch & catch up on some work (while binge watching Gilmore Girls :))

In case you don’t follow me on Instagram, both me & Kannon got a bad virus the night before we were supposed to fly to NYC for Fashion Week. So unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip. I was incredibly bummed because I had been planning for it but realized I can just go in February & that life will go on! Sometimes life likes to throw you curve balls! You know what they say though… When life throws you curve balls.. Wear an incredible Fall floral maxi dress? Yeah, that’s not correct but this dress really does make life a little bit better! P.S. If the high slit is a little bit too much for you, I just use a tiny safety pin or a piece of double sided tape to close it a little bit 🙂
