10 Tips for Hydrated Skin

10 Tips for Hydrated Skin

Today, I want to talk about something that hits close to home for many of us – dry skin. Whether you were born with it, living in a dry climate, or enduring the cold months, I totally get it – dry skin can be a real bummer! But don’t fret, because I’ve got your back with these ten tips for hydrated skin to keep your skin gorgeously moisturized and glowing.

1. Hydration, Hydration, Hydration:

Let’s start with the basics – staying hydrated! Water is your skin’s best friend, and trust me, it shows. Make sure to sip on that H2O throughout the day, and your skin will thank you with a luminous glow. I am an Owala girl through & through so I’m linking a few of my favorites below in case you want a new water bottle to keep you motivated to drink more water 🙂

2. Skin-Friendly Foods:

Dry skin can sometimes be linked to nutrient deficiencies. Fear not, I’ve got a delicious solution for you! Incorporate foods rich in skin-loving vitamins and minerals like vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, zinc, and selenium into your diet. Think sweet potatoes, sweet red peppers, kiwis, soy, almond and oat milk, sunflower seeds, baked beans, avocados, green tea, and turmeric – I also swear by this supplement below. They make such a massive difference in my skin, hair, and nails.

3. Moisture-Locking Skincare:

Now, let’s talk about skincare products! Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides when choosing your moisturizer. These wonders work hard to lock in moisture and keep your skin feeling plump and supple all day long.

4. Gentle Cleansing:

Avoid harsh, drying cleansers that strip your skin of its natural oils. Opt for a gentle cleanser that cleans thoroughly without leaving your skin feeling tight and dry. Your skin will thank you for the TLC!

5. Exfoliation Done Right:

Exfoliation is crucial for shedding those dead skin cells and allowing your moisturizer to penetrate effectively. However, don’t overdo it! Once or twice a week with a gentle exfoliant is plenty to keep your skin fresh and rejuvenated. I personally love this one because it’s made with impeccable ingredients and works wonders on the skin.

6. Shower Power:

As tempting as it may be, avoid long, hot showers, as they can further dry out your skin. Stick to warm showers and pat your skin dry with a soft towel after. Lock in the moisture with your favorite moisturizer or oil while your skin is still damp – it makes all the difference!

7. Humidify Your Space:

During those dry months or if you’re living in a dry climate, consider using a humidifier in your living space. This little trick helps add moisture to the air, preventing your skin from feeling like a desert! I use a humidifier regularly and notice a drastic difference in my skins hydration. I have had this humidifier for a couple of years now and it makes all the difference.

8. Face Masks for a Treat:

Treat yourself to a hydrating face mask once or twice a week. Look for masks with ingredients like aloe vera, honey, or cucumber to give your skin an extra dose of love and moisture.

9. Protect from the Elements:

Harsh weather conditions can take a toll on your skin. In cold weather, bundle up with scarves, hats, and gloves to shield your face and hands from the biting wind. In sunny weather, don’t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

10. Beauty Sleep, Literally:

Last but not least, don’t underestimate the power of beauty sleep. Get those Zs, and let your body work its magic to repair and rejuvenate your skin while you rest. Studies show that 7-9 hours of sleep can help our bodies in so many different ways so make sure you’re making sleep a priority.

Remember, dry skin is not your enemy. Embrace it with these ten tips, and you’ll have radiant, hydrated skin that makes you glow from the inside out!
