Summer is in full swing! With it comes the perfect opportunity to curl up with a good book. Soak up some sunshine and dive head first into the pages. Whether you’re looking for a light read to take to the beach or a thought-provoking novel to ponder in the garden, there are plenty of new releases and old favorites to add to your spring book list. Below I’m sharing 10 books to read this summer.

I have quite a few books in my TBR that I’ve been wanting to read for quite some time. I’ve actually been reading a lot more on my Kindle as of late so my physical TBR is a bit out of control. Since we’ve been traveling again, it’s been so much easier for me to bring along my Kindle or even just use the app on my phone. I do miss reading a physical book though. There is nothing like the smell of fresh pages and holding an actual book in your hands.

10 Books To Read This Spring

The Dictionary of Lost Words

Esme is born into a world of words. Motherless and irrepressibly curious, she spends her childhood in the Scriptorium, an Oxford garden shed in which her father and a team of dedicated lexicographers are collecting words for the very first Oxford English Dictionary. Young Esme’s place is beneath the sorting table, unseen and unheard. One day a slip of paper containing the word bondmaid flutters beneath the table. She rescues the slip and, learning that the word means “slave girl,” begins to collect other words that have been discarded or neglected by the dictionary men.

As she grows up, Esme realizes that words and meanings relating to women’s and common folks’ experiences often go unrecorded. And so she begins in earnest to search out words for her own dictionary: the Dictionary of Lost Words. To do so she must leave the sheltered world of the university and venture out to meet the people whose words will fill those pages.

Truly Devious

True-crime aficionado Stevie Bell is set to begin her first year at Ellingham Academy, and she has an ambitious plan: She will solve this cold case. That is, she will solve the case when she gets a grip on her demanding new school life and her housemates: the inventor, the novelist, the actor, the artist, and the jokester.

But something strange is happening. Truly Devious makes a surprise return, and death revisits Ellingham Academy. The past has crawled out of its grave. Someone has gotten away with murder.

Crossing my fingers I actually make it through these without getting distracted by too many new releases 🙂
